Sometimes you have to wait for things you really want;
sometimes you have to do all the hard work
and then sit back and be patient;
sometimes to see the fruits of your labour and passion
you have free yourself of any expectations,
so that what you put that effort into will truly count;
sometimes you have to leave things alone
and let things settle, dry, and be as they should,
like wet paint.
Everything needs time to cook;
everything needs time to come together naturally,
everything needs time to coagulate, be framed,
be bound tightly like the pages and cover of a book;
everything needs time to grow into what it is meant to be.
Different influences,
different sights,
different sounds,
different people,
different encounters,
make a piece of art,
make a creation,
make a life,
make a person,
and sometimes they can all be focused
into one perfect moment, or one perfect and amazing gift;
waiting for the right time can be all that is necessary
to pull together the dividing sides of a rift.
Having the will to hold on,
having the belief to not lose faith,
having the strength to carry on,
having the vision you rely on
to keep standing and keep going, can be hard
but when it all becomes real and tangible,
and you can actually hold what you have wanted in your hands,
everything that came before and all you had to do
to get where you are is eclipsed
and everything and you feel incredible, invincible, and great.
There is nothing worse than a ticking clock
that when you are waiting for the time to fly
moves slowly as if the seconds, minutes, and hours,
are not even moving at all;
there is nothing worse for the mind, the heart,
and the senses, than the time to think,
because sometimes you can think too much,
and you end up building and living behind a wall.
Counting down; seeing the next direction to take;
navigating without a map; making the choices
and embracing the mistakes that are not really mistakes
that you have to make,
are all a part of the adventure of a life-time
that is like Earth-bathing and Earth-gazing
a quarter of a million miles away on the surface of the moon.
The best of things are born into life slowly but surely,
meaningfully and poetically,
and we can all rest assured that phenomenal new adventures
are on the horizon, and are coming soon.
For some the weekend has already started;
for some the time to let their hair down,
to go out and enjoy themselves
while having fun in the sun
has already begun,
and will continue for all the hours
that the sun shines,
until the stars come out at night;
for some this is the time to go out and party;
for some, they have have been waiting for this time,
these days, since the last weekend ended,
and they are constantly waiting
for the arrival of Friday night-
which might consist of going out with friends,
an evening in front of the TV,
going to see a good film at the cinema,
or perhaps sitting in a beautiful garden
under the stars while marveling at the moonlight.
Saturday is a day when things happen;
Saturday is a day when people meet up, talk, and catch up;
Saturday is a day when you can put worries on-hold
and make wishes a reality;
Saturday is a day when you can let everything spin,
like the rings of Saturn;
Saturday is a day when things go on
that you don’t read about every day in a book;
Saturday is a day for making the most of the things
and the people who define life, passion, and true beauty.
Saturday is the day for a walk in the park;
Saturday is the day for doing your favourite things;
Saturday is the day for going for a long drive
in the countryside in your car;
Saturday is the day for concerts, music,
family, dancing, singing, and weddings,
The world doesn’t just stop at the weekend-
just because it’s a Saturday,
that doesn’t mean that everyone is off work all day long;
people still have a job to do,
airplanes still take off
and people are still jetting off
to all corners of the planet
in hopes of finding something
and leaving other things behind;
people still do good things,
and things still occasionally go wrong-
but that is ok, that is how it is supposed to be,
that is the life of yours and mine.
Go out and run in the sun;
go for a swim in a swimming pool,
or in the warm water of an ocean;
go and see something inspiring,
heart-racing, stunning, and fun;
go out of your way and do something for someone.
Go out of your front door
and see and hear and do what you want to do your way;
go on, and whatever you do
make sure you have a great day
and the best Saturday.
That feeling in your stomach is unmistakable,
that pounding in your chest is hard to stop,
that cloud between your ears is slow to clear,
but when you finally arrive and start your job
on your first day it doesn’t take long
to find your feet and feel comfortable-
whether your job is in an office,
in a restaurant, in a factory,
at an airport, on your feet, behind a desk,
or being their to help and assist
lots of different customers in a shop,
it doesn’t take long for your natural gifts to take over
and for all the butterflies that have been fluttering
in your stomach to disappear.
You never forget the first day of your first job,
you never forget how much that first day
becomes a blur of many different emotions
that if you let them all get the better of you
it wont take you long to say you are never going to learn
all that you have been taught and told,
and you will probably even want to go to a corner and sob;
but if you don’t do that, if you don’t give up
even after making the first ten of the many
natural and necessary mistakes that you and everyone always make,
the more you will gain confidence and feel at-ease
in what you are doing, and in your own abilities,
and you will come to the conclusion
that what at first you thought was hard
and incapable of being learned
is actually a piece of cake.
The more you do something the more it becomes second-nature to you,
the more you work at what you know, the more comfortable you become,
and every time you start back at work after a day off
it will be like stepping back into an old pair of shoes.
For some people their first job is the job they have always wanted;
for some people, especially those who have just left school,
their first job is just the first step up a hill
to where they are supposed to be;
for some people their first job is their passion
and the thing that they do that they love
and have dreamed about doing since they were a kid;
for some people their first job is but the seed
that will one day grow and bare the fruit that will never stop
providing for their family, and feed all the branches that stem
and grow from you into your life’s tree.
Your first day of school is always the day you want to forget;
your first day of college or university
goes by so fast and you may not remember it all,
because your mind feels like it is traveling
at a thousand miles an hour in a supersonic jet;
your first day of work is like you are acting out
and saying the lines of an actor in a play;
your first day is the day you should try your hardest to remember,
because it can only get better afterwards-
so remember, your best day, in whatever it is that you do,
is always going to be your first day.
