We were born of the Earth.
The Earth was born in space.
The sun was born of our galaxy the Milky Way.
The galaxy was born of the universe.
The universe was born of a Big Bang,
a moment of creation, a flash of transformation,
a phenomenal explosion of life-defining energy.
Everything is made and patterned and destined
to live and endure within the environment
in which they are born into:
a fish needs water to stay alive,
a human needs light, air, land,
something in their life to anchor them,
to keep them sane, to give their lives meaning-
the planets of our solar system give meaning to the Earth,
and the Earth gives meaning to you.
When two compatible individuals connect and come together
a new life is born that irrevocably changes
the face of everything that has come before it,
emerging into a world perfect for it
but which it must continuously learn to adapt to living in,
and living with, that it can’t control,
that it must struggle to understand,
that looks simple from the outset,
but which is more complex than they could ever conceive-
just like being able to walk and stand up straight
without falling over, constantly fighting,
and yet defined by, an invisible force;
just like looking back over a persons life,
seeing the choices that they made, and asking:
how much of what happens in something’s existence
or someone’s life is planned?
Patterns are repeated over and over again in our universe,
on our planet, in our lives- day after day, decade after decade,
century after century, millennia after millennia-
patterns of behaviour, echoes of design, sustaining structures,
that have stood, spread, and are prevalent in a billion different,
but connected, configurations, in a thousand galaxies
throughout the universe-
and they repeat, because they have evolved a way of maintaining balance
and equilibrium with the life source that created the universe
and seeded all things with a purpose, a power,
a path, a pattern to follow,
that we are all destined to find and make work.
No one will ever know all the answers-
anyone who says that they know everything, knows nothing;
but what everybody can know, if they are willing to search
and understand, is that patterns are there:
we were born, we all live our lives,
the galaxy exists, the universe and all life came into being,
for a reason-
a reason bigger and more important than all of us,
but the essential nature, components, spirit, final design,
can be seen everyday in everything and everyone on our planet
when you look for and when you see repeating patterns.
At the edge of the solar system,
an image of mankind reflects a pin-prick of light
from a distant yellow star that we here on Earth
like to call our sun-
this light has become dimmer, smaller, and more distant
with every passing year,
but it is still the brightest and the most powerful source of light,
life, heat, and attraction,
as it has been since its internal furnace was turned on
and light at the centre of our solar system first shone.
I cannot help but marvel at what we have all achieved here on our planet-
every form of life since our worlds inception
has seen its share of troubles, cataclysms, and hits,
but all life has evolved- one way or another, for better or for worse,
changed their ways- because they’ve had to,
because in life there are no exceptions.
We all want to live, we all want more,
we all want someone to share it all with,
we all want to know what it is all for;
we all ask questions, we all want answers-
even if it just one:
one question, one answer,
can be the difference between to where,
and for how long your life will run.
Our lives would not be worth living
if we never had Earth to sustain us,
without Earth we would all still be
microscopic particles of interstellar dust.
We are all children of Earth,
still gestating, developing, and evolving,
within the womb, within the egg that is our planet,
that is our solar system,
that is the surface of a universal wishing-well.
We are all so close to the moment,
to the edge of taking the next steps in our evolution-
as we break through the barriers that have prevented us until now
from breaking through the shell.
Constantly orbiting and always silently traversing
the gravity family of our solar system
the centaurs of the sky are on a journey;
seeds of life and change that have existed unchanged and undisturbed
since the beginning of coalescence in this part of the galaxy-
bringers of awe and inspiration;
but also the omen of chaos, the instigators of fury.
These Trojans of the night race through the planet-scape of our solar system-
checked, but largely unabated;
until the touch of the Sun-
Earths life-giving, sustaining, always present parent-
brings back to light the icy wake of this space traveller;
something it has long awaited.
Everyone on Earth is like the sun, the planets,
the asteroids, and the comets, of their own solar system:
constantly orbiting, affecting, radiating,
and turning on the tilt of their own axis’,
largely unaware that they are part of a greater,
more far-reaching, web of possibility
that has no knowledge, but a promise of what it could become.
Just like a comet, in life, people orbit, interact,
but often pass-by each other silently,
without any deviation to their path, or arc;
however, everyday, just like a comet,
they pass too-closely to another with greater gravity,
energy, and luminescence,
and from then-on they are in their orbit,
and are able to shine and share who they are at their core-
a phoenix in the dark.
