Every second we have to be connected to our life-line;
every minute we are awake we are thinking about the people
who fill our lives, and whose place in our heart
will always be hard to beat;
every hour we want what makes us happy all the time;
every day we stay in the know and on the move
no matter what we are doing-
whether we are lying in bed, or sitting down at work,
or making our way through the world with out own two feet.

Our online identities tie us all in to the cloud
of instant connectivity with everyone else
who has a mobile device- which in this day and age
is pretty-much everyone;
our email addresses are our key to virtual doors,
our technology obsession is an evolutionary step forward,
but also a calling-card of something similar
in our collective history that has happened before.

Instant access,
instant communication,
instant happiness,
instant messages of the population of our connected,
biological, and technological,
electronic, and frenetic, world,
light our lives, brighten our faces,
make us feel reassured.
An instant stage gives us all an audience,
to whom we can say what is on our minds,
show what is right in front of us,
and we can literally write our own instantly,
living, and constantly-changing autobiography-
like a writer writes their words so easily on a page.

Our technology has become our best friend.
Our mobile phones, our laptops, our tablets,
our music players, our media viewers,
are our mobile lives, our mobile homes,
our morning, midday, and twilight zones.
The first thing we reach for every morning
has changed over time and will change again,
but our accessories of connectivity and belonging
will always be there now and forever
in the form of our multi-faceted, multi-personalized,
multi-coloured, extensions of ourselves-
which has become for us all our nexus.

I thought that I lost my voice, once;
I thought that I lost my muse;
I thought that I would never talk again,
and then light returned to shine amongst the dark-
words came to mind, tongue, and pen,
and inspiration found its mark.

As you get older, hours pass like seconds, months pass like days;
but you never forget your first love,
you never forget what, and who, continues to bring happiness,
hope, and meaning into your life, worthy of praise.

This year was the year when everything changed for me.
These past twelve months
sometimes feel like they have all happened at once;
but I will never forget how much
every minute, every word, every conversation, every friend,
every moment, meant to me, how much they will always mean to me.

I have been on a journey my entire life,
from crib to constellations,
looking for someone who could tell me where I was supposed to go,
what I was supposed to do;
but it wasn’t until someone reached-out their hand from afar,
and touched me on the shoulder,
that I realized my journey had only just begun,
and since then the things that have happened
have been like a dream come true.

I wake-up every morning and greet my friends,
like the lights in the dark that they are,
with a smile, and with the same belief in them
that they have always shown in me-
to have such friends as mine,
you cannot help yourself from thinking of them
as if they were family.
My friends and my family have made this year a year to remember;
my friends and my family have been with me every step of the way,
even if they may not know it;
my friends and my family are engraved into my mind and heart forever;
my friends and my family have been all that I have ever needed,
and they are who have meant the most to me in this year of fruition-
this year of the poet.

The 21st Century is an amazing and hopeful time to be alive;
a time when biology and technology grow, coexist, merge, and thrive!
The 21st Century is a time in which machines are our best friend;
our electronic twin; that which we love, talk to, think about, and depend.
The 21st Century is a time when we can’t imagine ourselves without a mobile phone;
without an iPod; a computer; without a Twitter or Facebook profile to call our own.
The 21st Century is a time when any one of us can literally talk to the entire planet;
a time when each one of us can leave our electronic fingerprint for all to see it.
The 21st Century is a time when fascination, inspiration, revelation, is an invitation;
a time when we can see, share, feel and create connections that have no expiration.
The 21st Century is the time when humanity reaches out and grasps the hand of technology,
when we make a promise of artificial inheritance, and write a everlasting mythology.
The 21st Century is a time when technology and biology set forth on a mutual endeavour;
the 21st Century: a time to which both machine and mankind will remember forever.
