Sometimes you do honestly have to pinch yourself;
sometimes you do need to take a photo
to prove what just happened actually happened;
sometimes more happens to you than you can tell;
sometimes you do just have to go with the flow
and throw out any ideas or expectations
that you may have had planned;
sometimes you do have to ride the train to the end of the track;
sometimes you do have to count your blessings;
sometimes you do have to stop worrying about working out the why,
and doing all the maths;
sometimes you do have to feel and act without thinking,
because you have no idea what can come from a seemingly chance meeting.
You can wake up one morning
and find yourself coming face to face with a prince;
you can look up and see the beautiful face of a princess;
you can go somewhere and see something once
and never again will you have seen the same thing twice, or since;
you can be lucky every day to be best friends
with the one person in the entire world who truly understand you,
and you makes you feel whole when the world can feel like it is in a mess.
When you do something and someone likes it;
when you make an effort and someone notices;
when you find someone and you just click;
when you look around you and it feels like someone has given you
a happy life like no other,
and has made real and enhanced all of your secret hopes,
dreams, and wishes, you know that life does not get any better,
you know that the universe really does have a centre,
you know that you are doing all the right things,
you know that energetic and wild feeling of release-
like a solar-flare on the surface of the sun,
or an eruption of intense heat from a hot spring.
The sights you see,
the music you hear,
the touch you feel, are important,
and those same instantaneous memories will become recollections and echoes,
waves and melodies in your daily life,
and they will influence your choices-
the people that you meet,
the things that you find,
the stories that you learn,
are like pieces of a mosaic,
patches of a quilt,
trees of a rain-forest,
lines of a matrix,
distinctive intonations of a chorus of voices.
When something feels right,
you know that you want to hold on to it forever;
when something feels natural,
you never want it to end or be over;
when something feels like nothing else has ever felt,
or could ever feel;
when something feels like it is just too good for words or description,
then you know that things are not just a dream anymore,
they are for real.
Out the door I see Eden,
out the door I see hope,
out the door I see new possibilities,
out the door I see a beautiful day
bathed in the light of the sun,
out the door I see a direction to go,
out the door I see a mystery, a world,
a people, a life, that never stops fascinating me.
Out the door I see a new adventure,
out the door I see the future and the past,
out the door I see breathtaking nature,
out the door I see a play being played out
before my eyes with an infinite cast.
Out the door I see light,
out the door I see lions,
out the door I see flags
and clouds being blown in the wind,
out the door I see colour of all depths of the spectrum,
out the door I see all that is bright, magnetic,
connected, built, maintained, keeps going,
stays standing, through everything;
out the door I see reality, as if I am seeing it through
a mirror of one-way glass, or as if through the eye
and the vortex and event horizon of a wormhole,
and I imagine that every atom, molecule, energy,
person, building, animal, plant, and thing,
is constantly talking to each other
without them even knowing it,
on another level and frequency of communication.
Out the door I see people I have never seen before
and will probably never see again;
out the door I see history, fate, destiny;
out the door I see heritage, culture,
the beginning of spring-
the change of a season;
out the door I see choice and preference,
joy, and shadow;
out the door I see things that will exist and have existed
for each and every millennium;
out the door I see a world that can be testing at times,
but over all just wants to be friendly;
out the door I see where I must go.
Out the door I see and I think of what is out there for me,
and what would someone think of me if they saw me
while they were looking up and looking out,
and I wonder if anyone else somewhere
is looking through a similar opening
and considering the world they see
for how it feel and appears to them-
what is what it is, and what is in store.
I wonder where I am going
and I imagine someone behind me saying and asking
that same question of themselves and of me,
as they watch me get up and walk out the door.
There is not a day that goes by
when I do not doubt how lucky I am;
there is not a moment in a day
when I don’t want to see as much as I can-
because, in life, there is always something to do,
somewhere to go, something to learn about others
and yourself that you did not know.
Not everyone has the time, or even the inclination, to stop and think,
or to do something that they have never done-
especially if you have a family to feed, love, and support,
as best that you can, when thinking about others has to be your sole-focus;
but if you can afford, even for a few minutes of every day
to take the time or to make the time
to really see passed the bubble that surrounds you,
and digress to whomever you wish something that is on your mind,
and then watch it grow as the idea becomes too big for you
to continue to repress.
This wonderful world continues to amaze me, faze me,
embrace me, raise me, craze me, at times;
but I am always thinking about it,
I am always learning about it,
I always want the best for it-
however, no one knows what the future will turn-out like,
no one knows how individuals actions
will affect the lives of everyone on our planet-
but to save ourselves from losing ourselves,
to me, everyone- every child, every adult,
every free-thinking person of consciousness and conscience
with the means of speech-
has to be able to have their say.
To me everything that I have thought on and experienced is a day in the life;
but I know that every day, especially today, is not just another day.
Every day of life means something to someone in every way.
