Every adventure begins with a dream;
every epic starts with a first step;
every day begins with a sunrise
that you may not always see;
every ocean starts with that very first drop.

Every singer starts by singing into a hair-brush;
every author begins by first writing in a diary;
every musician starts with an imaginary instrument-
like an air-guitar- while listening to their favourite music
full-blast, and being told to turn the music down
with a bang on the wall, or a hush;
every song-writer begins writing songs as poetry.

Every driver starts by having a go behind the wheel
of their parents car;
every life full of language and conversation
begins with that first word;
every humanitarian, or doctor, starts every day of their calling
with the oath ‘to do no harm’;
every disease that was ever thought to be wholly-untreatable
will one day be found to have a cure.

Every happy life begins with that first friend;
every band began with that first practice-session;
every new beginning started with an end;
every great relationship began with a question.
Every fortune started with that first penny;
every chain began with that first link;
every thing about who you are and who you will be
goes back and can be traced to who is your family;
every change of perspective begins by you considering
a possibility that you never thought to every think.

Every collection begins with that first item that you treasure;
every place of peace and serenity started as the place
where you always wanted to be when you were a kid;
every passion should always be a pleasure.
Every singer, every musician, every poet, every astronaut,
every teacher, every vet, every soldier, every inventor,
every gardener, can always go back
and point to the time, and they can always tell you what,
and where it all began, and where it all started.

It’s a brand new morning,
on a brand new day,
at a brand new time,
for a brand new me;
it’s a brand new dawning,
on a brand new path,
to a brand new way,
at a brand new place,
with a brand new state of mind,
for a brand new poem,
about a brand new us,
and a brand new life for us
to live breathe and see.

I feel like I am going back to school.
I feel like I am having to learn things over again.
I feel like I am discovering
and tapping into a new source of inspiration fuel.
I feel like I am learning more about myself
every time I sit down with a piece of paper and a pen.
I feel like I am crossing a border
to an unfamiliar territory.
I feel like I am ripping out the last page of my story
from my book, and throwing it into the wind
for someone else to find and one day return to me,
and then we can both know what my last word
and what my last line of poetry will be.

It’s a fresh air that I feel,
and a fresh perspective that I now have.
It’s a fresh surge of blood, energy, and love
that I feel pumping and beating from my heart.
It’s a fresh and gleaming new coat of paint on the world
that I can see my face in,
because the shine is so clear when I look at it
I am instantly reflecting.
It’s a fresh cup that I am drinking from,
as I make the best of every second
of my fresh start.

In the warm golden air of a summer night-
as birds tweet, chirp, and sing,
as the world seemingly stands still to catch its breath-
all that I can think about and daydream about
is the beautiful muse who has just walked into my life.
The second that I first saw her,
my eyes and heart felt as if they had instantly doubled in size;
the second that I first saw her,
my gaze was fixed on her wherever she went,
and my face could not disguise
that she had captured my heart
when she looked back at me with the sweetest of smiles-
one that you would wish to see for the rest of your life,
and for the sight of which you would overcome any trial.
I knew that she was special from the first time that we talked,
I can barely remember what we said to one another-
I know that she laughed at a joke that I made,
but if I am being honest my body never moved,
while my mind ran, jumped, and walked.
Every word that she spoke to me
I heard as if it were a beautiful symphony,
or a gorgeous, moving, verse of poetry
that had no end, nor any limit to its depth-
every movement of her perfectly formed mouth
was, is, like a sudden, invigorating, energizing,
inspiring, intake of breath.
She makes me feel so happy when I see her,
so much so that I cannot wait another second
until I raise my head again
as she greets me with her eyes as I greet hers with mine-
I am so looking forward to seeing her again
that I can feel a tingling all down my spine.
I am so awestruck, and infatuated with this angel of destiny
that I am excited about the future and what will be,
so much so that I do not fear the loss of judgement,
nor my sense of perspective;
because, even though we have only known each-other for a short time,
I feel closer to her than to anyone I have met before-
and maybe that is why I feel so much for her,
and why, towards her, I feel so protective.

Sometimes we all need to take a step back,
to truly see all the Playing Cards that are in the pack;
to truly see the world as it is, and how it is meant to be seen;
to truly see all that exists on the periphery, as well as in between.

Sometimes we all need to take a step back,
to truly see ‘white’ where once we only saw ‘black’;
to truly see the truth for the first time,
to truly see the reason at the exact instant that we see the rhyme.

Sometimes we all need to take a step back,
to truly see all that came before, and to get back on track;
to truly see who we are, and what out lives have become;
to truly see the vibrations, as well as hear the sound of the drum.

Sometimes we all need to take a step back,
to truly see the consequences of our actions, as if reading them in an almanac;
to truly see a work of art, and fully appreciate it from the distance intended;
to truly see everything that the landscape now permits to be comprehended.

Sometimes we all need to take a step back,
to truly see all the signs of the universe, and not just those twelve of the zodiac;
to truly see love, life, compassion, and connectivity;
to truly see the invisible, the indivisible; and experience the wonder of curiosity.
