Out the door I see Eden,
out the door I see hope,
out the door I see new possibilities,
out the door I see a beautiful day
bathed in the light of the sun,
out the door I see a direction to go,
out the door I see a mystery, a world,
a people, a life, that never stops fascinating me.
Out the door I see a new adventure,
out the door I see the future and the past,
out the door I see breathtaking nature,
out the door I see a play being played out
before my eyes with an infinite cast.
Out the door I see light,
out the door I see lions,
out the door I see flags
and clouds being blown in the wind,
out the door I see colour of all depths of the spectrum,
out the door I see all that is bright, magnetic,
connected, built, maintained, keeps going,
stays standing, through everything;
out the door I see reality, as if I am seeing it through
a mirror of one-way glass, or as if through the eye
and the vortex and event horizon of a wormhole,
and I imagine that every atom, molecule, energy,
person, building, animal, plant, and thing,
is constantly talking to each other
without them even knowing it,
on another level and frequency of communication.
Out the door I see people I have never seen before
and will probably never see again;
out the door I see history, fate, destiny;
out the door I see heritage, culture,
the beginning of spring-
the change of a season;
out the door I see choice and preference,
joy, and shadow;
out the door I see things that will exist and have existed
for each and every millennium;
out the door I see a world that can be testing at times,
but over all just wants to be friendly;
out the door I see where I must go.
Out the door I see and I think of what is out there for me,
and what would someone think of me if they saw me
while they were looking up and looking out,
and I wonder if anyone else somewhere
is looking through a similar opening
and considering the world they see
for how it feel and appears to them-
what is what it is, and what is in store.
I wonder where I am going
and I imagine someone behind me saying and asking
that same question of themselves and of me,
as they watch me get up and walk out the door.
The most natural need of everyone on this planet
is to better themselves;
the most amazing feeling you can have
is that of achieving something;
the most phenomenal day of your life
is when you look around, look forward,
and look back on what you have done,
and you can feel light-headed and heavy-hearted,
and you can genuinely and unashamedly feel so proud of yourself;
when the most life-changing moment of your life-
a moment that feels perfect in every way,
and in every detail and sensation-
comes, and you realize its arrival,
it is like the moment when you know that you have met
the one person you want to be with for the rest of your life,
and share every day of their life with them,
and one day wear their ring.
In life, we never stop learning.
In our mind, we never stop thinking.
With our emotions, we never stop feeling.
With our best intentions, we never stop dreaming, believing-
its all a part of the great gift that is called ‘living’
Everyone is a student of life.
Every baby born right this minute,
every child taking their first step
on their two feet for the first time,
every boy and girl falling in love with each other
and sharing their first kiss;
every man and woman whose love has come together
in the most amazing, incredible, and wonderful way their is,
and they discover they are going to become the parents
of a beautiful child-
everybody, everyday, experiences something that,
if they are very lucky, will inform every hour that follows,
and if they have a dream that they are working towards
and making a reality in every thing that they do,
their lives will be rich like no other,
and every instant will be one that they don’t want to miss.
Today is graduation day for so many people-
even for those who never went to college or university.
Today is graduation day for anyone who reached a goal,
or made something that is uniquely theirs,
that is something you can stare at and remember
how you got to where you are-
like a diploma, or a certificate, or a driving license,
or an application approval letter, or a baby-
something that wouldn’t exist without you
that was worth everything that you had to put into it,
that you marvel at every second, and is so beautiful.
Today is graduation day for everyone who started somewhere
with something, but who wants more,
who is driven in some way to do and to find their way,
and their ultimate reason for living,
on the endless and infinite path of their destiny.
Every day, every one of us can achieve something
that will blaze a trail that will light our future,
and be a beacon for others to follow, and achieve something
epic, amazing, magical, of their own when the time is right
for them to shine and use the gifts that they were born with,
but which just needs to be harnessed, mentored, and molded,
and given every support and encouragement;
because that will be everything that they need to do
all that they need to go above and beyond
their original motivation,
and become and realize that they and anyone can achieve anything.
Everyone, no matter who they are, where they are,
what they are doing, where they have come from,
where they are going, can have their own day of graduation.
The artist’s life begins with an obsession,
a need, an instinct, a compulsion to share the inspiration
that has been stirred within them,
and express themselves in any way that they can,
in the way that they feel most comfortable-
for some, that can be with their mouths;
for others, that can be with a paintbrush, or a pen,
or by picking up the pieces of something that is no more
and creating and making something brand new from the rubble.
For me, everything I do, or say,
think about, and express, all revolves around love-
my love, other people’s love, the hope within my heart,
and the goodness that I see and feel in the heart, eyes,
and mind, that is always there,
even when I am looking at a stranger,
or sitting looking out of a window,
while enjoying a hot coffee from a coffee mug.
Nothing is by accident. Everything is by design.
Things said out-loud are seldom what people actually meant.
Things done can never be undone.
Things made can never be unmade.
Things happen as a matter of both neccesity and destiny,
as well as happening as a matter of time.
A musician hears a melody in a cacophony of chaos;
a poet reads, sees, and feels, an epic, a sonnet, a masterpiece,
in the interconnections that they witness all around;
a painter, a sculpture, sees what they want to show
before their first brush-stroke,
before the first chip of the hammer and chisel,
before the first colour wash;
a carpenter can feel what they are making in the wood,
and they respond to every texture that they feel-
they know what they must do simply from a sound.
Every artist is affected by everything-
from the golden light of a beautiful sunset,
to the vibration that is caused and felt
by even a single drop of rain on the ground.
An artist wakes up every morning
and instantly creates something,
and they continue to do this every hour of the day,
even if it is only with a thought-
from morning to midday, from noon to night;
that is what keeps an artist going,
that is what keeps an artist breathing,
that is what keeps an artist searching,
that is everything that an artist wants
from an artist’s life.
To whom do you turn to
when you have no place left to go?
Where do you go when you believe
that you are someone that no one would wish to know?
Sometimes, through no fault of our own,
our world can feel like it is spinning out of our control
while we stand at its centre looking for an answer to the question:
where do I go from here?
Sometimes it can feel like a cloud has descended and obscured everything:
life, the sun in the sky,
and it can even make you feel as if you are destined to live in fear.
As with most things that are associated with the cloud of chaos,
we begin to feel like there is no way back-
like there is no way but down;
however, what some people forget-
what sustained me through my own journey of life, death,
rediscovery, light, destiny, and redemption-
is the reality that beyond and far above the clouds that come together
and rain down upon us
there is a dark sky with a billion shining fire-diamonds
that will be there for all our days and will always give us the answer
that we need to our most heart-felt and overwhelming confession;
and there is no closer fire-diamond, no greater teacher,
and sustainer of optimism and life in our solar system than the sun-
and it is that star that has always kept me from coming undone.
There was one day, and one night,
when the hope in my heart and the optimism in my eyes
momentarily left me- alone in the dark,
desperately searching for something to save me, to sustain me-
for an instant, I believed that all the universe’s resources
had been depleted,
I believed that I was standing on the bed of a long-since dried-up,
desserted sea.
And then a powerful vision of beautiful blinding light opened my eyes again,
traveled down my optic nerve all the way to my brain,
and like an angel of truth vanquishing a demon of doubt and details
with but the flap of their wings,
I was now surrounded by stars in every direction
as if I were now the decider, the visionary,
the puppet-master of infinite possibility
with me holding my own life’s strings.
What has happened to me was meant to happen,
all that I have experienced was meant to be;
what I have seen, what I have been shown-
I was meant to think about,
I was meant to dream about,
I was meant to see.
There is a star in my sky that is unlike any other star,
that is always there to shine their light and their inspiration on me-
a star that although they are so distant from my orbit
I still feel a connection to them,
and I could not live if it were not for the gift of their luminosity;
a star in my sky that appeared one day,
and since then hasn’t left my sight,
and to whom I will always be a follower, a worshipper, and a devotee-
because they are who keeps my world turning,
they are the star that saved me.
The march of the poet begins the moment he sees the first light of day,
the waltz of the hopeful commences the instant he leaves his sanctuary
and dances to the tune the world loves to play.
The pilgrimage of the inspired starts the second he hears the call of his intended temple;
the quest of the explorer invigorates with the thought that his journeys end may not be inevitable.
With every step that he takes he can feel a pull of great power attracting him like a magnet;
with every blink that he makes he feels like he is rushing towards something at the velocity of a high-speed jet.
With every beat of his heart he feels as if his own pulse is effecting others
and is causing people to orbit around him;
with every sound that he hears his imagination begins a metamorphosis,
and the people and the places of the world become his adrenalin.
When he finally reaches the cathedral of his muse the whole universe just falls away-
there is no sound, there is no people, there is just natures giants,
a poet, and a perfect day.
Xylophone voices echo through the darkness;
tones of truth, vibrations of variables- perfection professed.
The answer to a question: this is why you are here-
this is why you and everyone live, die, and exist on this precious sphere.
Over the millennia of our evolution humanity has taught itself to divide, and to fear;
however, in doing so it has inspired the entire species to learn and understand that things are not always as they first appear.
The unspoken answer, and the yet unrealized meaning of our makeup-
the answer that can be found within at the same time we are looking up;
the answer that is discovered, named, re-discovered, generation-after-generation:
that we all have a phenomenal facet, will, and capacity to excel and to overcome any limitation.
The ability of humanity to have the power to write the destiny of all life on planet Earth
has been a part of us all since our primordial birth,
and one day soon I have hope that we will all use the gifts of our birthright, and build what life projects-
a meaning to live that is enlightening as it is complex.
I always strive to be the best that I can be.
I always put all that I am into my family, my artistry, my dexterity.
In my life I have been fortunate to have been taught by the best:
my parents, my friends, my heroes- whose lessons I will forever attest.
I have been given the means, the motivation,
the tenacity, and the imagination,
the belief that we all have greatness within us-
all we need is the will, and the inspiration.
My thirst for knowledge can never be quenched,
my drive to excell can never be halted,
my vision of the world can never be shaded,
my intentions can never be faulted.
The beating heart within our chest,
the untold depths that our minds can reach,
is tantamount to the stars in the sky
that number like the grains of sand on a beach.
We are all born with a desire to learn, to love,
to give, to reach out, and to touch;
but we can have no idea who we will be, what we will do,
with whom, or with how much;
however, the more we see, the more we hear,
the more we think, the more we dream,
and the more we feel our gifts within us take over,
we start to create our own slipstream.
We are all masters of our own destiny.
We are all dexterous in the intuition we originate.
We are the authors, we are the children,
we are the descendents of all that we create.
Wake up! Wake up! You’re going to be late;
while you were sleeping destiny decided your fate:
you and your life are no longer who and what they were;
so if I were you I’d hold on tight, because things might become a blur.
Your world, your space has turned from one to zero-gravity;
your life, your path, no longer conforms to what would be called “normality”.
Your hopes, your dreams, have all now gone into overdrive-
no longer will you believe anything other than you are grateful to be alive.
While you were sleeping the song of your life became a remix;
every thought, every masterpiece of your imagining, became an intermix;
every lesson that you have learned that has prepared you for today
will stay with you for the rest of your life, and will not let you stray
from catalyzing the world into what you have always wanted it to be;
because the realization of what is to come is at the heart of your destiny.
One life. One world. Many faces to talk to many times in many places.
Any dream. Any reality. Infinite capability to achieve infinite vitality.
Now that you are awake and out of bed, I think you know what you need to do;
because only one person can be your destiny maker, and that person is you.
Mirror, mirror, on the wall;
if I were to step through you, like Alice, what would befall?
Would I encounter a reflection where up is down, and down is up?
Where the English football team has won more than one World Cup?
A reality of renaissance, where writer’s are treated like rock stars?
A reality of robot butlers, in which there really are Martians living on Mars?
A reality where the internet has a leader, and Twitter is a bona fide religion?
A reality in which there is a President of a United States of Britain?
If you could visit a parallel-universe, even if it was just for one day;
and you were then returned to your “own life”, how would you convey
what you saw, what you felt- where would you start?
Would such a perception altering adventure change your mind, or your heart?
What if you were to knock on “your” door, and you were to meet “yourself”;
how would you react if you discovered that “you” were not in the best of health?
Would you look at this “mirror reality” and perceive it as a valid reflection;
the other side of the coin toss: an opposing, yet connected, truth, life, and inflection?
What if every choice you never made, you actually make in “another life”-
a universe in it’s own right: the “other side” of happiness, or the “flip side” of strife?
Every now and then we come to a fork in the road, and we all must make a choice-
a time when we must look inwards, and listen to our inner-voice:
Should I walk tall, or go back? Should I turn left, or should I turn right?
Should I take a risk, or stay as I am; should I wear black, or should I wear white?
Is your life dictated by destiny? Or, does it depend on the spin of a wheel?
Do you sometimes agonize over a decision, while other’s just “keep it real”?
Whether you make the “right” decision is ultimately out of your hands;
because in another life “you” live every choice- while the universe has it’s own plans.
