Like the moment when you first open a book
and you read the dedication on the first few pages;
like the moment when the clouds above you in the sky at night
clear and reveal the distant and beautiful stars;
like the first thing you see and feel
when you first meet someone
who you have been waiting to meet for ages;
like the experience and revelation that you live through
in a split-second when you look at someone
and right-away you feel as if you know them
and have seen yours and their future coming in clearly-
like a photograph from the surface of Mars;
like a water-drop in a cosmic sea
we are always creating ripples in the world
and in each other’s lives,
and I am constantly being touched by the effect of people
who live beyond the horizon, who do amazing things every day
that always get back to me.

Thank goodness for books.
Thank goodness for connectivity.
Thank goodness for shared memories and experiences
of first touches and first looks.
Thank goodness for divine poetry.
Thank goodness for the heroes we hear about
but will never know personally.
Thank goodness for stories told literally, orally, visually,
with heart, soul, and love,
that are constantly being sent out for other to find
like a message in a bottle that washes ashore
after being carried for miles across the sea.
Thank goodness for finding something new to talk about
everywhere we go.
Thank goodness for awesome and deep music that takes us away.
Thank goodness for everyone who comes our way.

Every day I drop my stone into the cosmic water,
I dream, and I make a wish;
every day I cast my line out far and wide
like I am trying to catch a fish;
every day I send out a signal and I listen for a reply
to come in via my psychic satellite dish.

Writing, to me, is like breathing.
Reading, to me, is like inhaling.
Experiencing, to me, is like dreaming.
Seeing, to me, is believing.
Talking, to me, is like walking.
Proposing, to me, is the end of all of your searching,
when you know you have found the one person in the entire world
who you believe was born beautiful and who is like a miracle
in every way, and who will never need perfecting.

Pull over to the side of the road once in a while,
look up at the sky, and dare to dream
and wish upon the star in the sky burning brightly
for your entire life that is the sun,
enjoy the good things that happen in life,
and endure the bad, and if possible find every
and any moment to have fun.
Go to a vast lake, stand on the coast of a deep ocean-
look out and don’t be afraid to see who and what you want to see,
look up to the infinite, unexplainable, and beautiful,
and feel like you are an important piece of an epic puzzle
that connects you to everything and links everything to you,
and know that you yourself are both a deep and sparkling ocean,
as well as a magical and influential water-drop in a cosmic sea.

It’s so important to never forget.
One of the greatest things we can do in life is remember.
It’s a gift to be able to hold on to the memory
of somebody special that you know like a brother, or a sister,
or even the face and the legacy of someone you never even met.

You need to hurt and feel pain
before you can try to make sense of any loss,
and over time that intense maelstrom of emotion
will transform and again remind you why every day of life,
and the lengths that we sometimes have to go in life,
are significant and essential beyond measure.
Everyone needs time to close their eyes,
take a breath, and refocus,
and even though when we do lose someone before their time
we do need to mourn them,
and we should all look for the signs
that they are indeed still around in some form, or another-
because a soul is the purest and the most amazing energy there is,
and the same energy that created and sustains the universe
every second, and which cannot be forgotten, or destroyed, ever.

Life is like a library,
and every person, plant, animal, thought, invention, and memory,
is a book and a source of reference in that library
that we can all choose to read and reread if we feel the need.
So much happens for so many reasons that we will never understand,
but that is why we have to appreciate every face, every cover,
every name, every page, every addition, every edition,
of every life that is born, written, lives-
because everything is a thing of beauty,
and no matter how you may feel sometimes,
you and the world can only go in one direction,
and if you are truly open to the constantly changing
and evolving twists and turns that everyone faces
you will knowingly fulfill the potential of your life,
and all life, and when in the possession of such knowledge
there is no knowing where the road of your life will lead.

There is nowhere more heavenly than a bookstore,
there is nowhere better than a place where
you are surrounded in every direction by books
by inspired, genius, and amazing writers- who had a thought,
and who then evolved that idea into something transcendental,
that could touch the heart of another human being
and serve as a magic door to far-off worlds,
different realities, understanding why people do what they do.

I just love picking up a book, holding it in my hand,
staring at the cover, thinking about the title,
and flicking through it-
taking in everything about the book
before I think about potentially buying it:
the feel of the pages, the description on the dust-cover,
the “weight” of the book, even though that might sound strange-
sometimes I have bought a book
solely because I saw something inside while I was flicking through
that jumped up at me from a page.

I love being around other writers, young and old;
I love a story, or an author, that I haven’t heard of before;
I love reading a book’s dedication that sounds like pure gold;
I love picking up a new book by an author I already know,
buying their book and being completely in-awe.

A bookstore is my sanctuary.
A bookstore smells more incredible and amazing than anywhere on Earth.
Just being in the company of powerful words incased and bound
and there to be read whenever and wherever anyone feels the need
is invigorating, to me-
when I first walk into a bookstore though,
I always find it hard to come up with an answer to the question:
where should I start first?

I love a forest. I love a library.
I love buying a great book and sharing it with a friend
after I have read every word and found an answer to a question
that I have been searching for.
I love being inspired, and there is no better place to be,
there is no better place to spend your time, and your money,
than discovering a work of art that will continue to inspire you
for years.
There is no place I’d rather be than in a bookstore.
